House to Summon Indonesian Police

VIVAnews - The detainment of the two anti-graft commission leaders Bibit Samad Riyanto and Chandra Hamzah by the Indonesian Police will be discussed in the House of Representatives (DPR) Justice Commission's working meeting next week.

"The working meeting will involve the Commission III and the Indonesian Police," said DPR Justice Commission member from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle faction Gayus Lumbuun on Friday, Oct 30.

However, Gayus cannot yet inform the exact day of the meeting.

As reported earlier, the Indonesian Police has detained Chandra and Bibit on authority violation case.

Concerning the case, Gayus said that there are two elements that must be put into consideration. First, the juridical aspect of the arrest is legal because it is the right of the police as the investigator.

Second, the police must pay attention to the sociological aspect. The holdup of Chandra and Bibit is in fact instantly responded by the public who are mostly against the detainment.

"Clearly, the police must reveal to the public abouth the urgency of the detainment," he said.
